New Monte Fino Green Yacht will set the standard around the globe

A new eco-friendly yacht has been launched by KHA SHING ENTERPRISE CO. LTD. for its Monte Fino range.  The ecHo yacht is not only economical from a fuel consumption point of view, but also supports the environment completely.

The 26 m has been designed and named by the Humphreys Yacht Design team. The project has been named ‘ecHo-yacht’, wherein H representing the Humphreys studio and its considered response to the push required towards ecological improvement in our sport.

One of the core fundamentals of the project is that the boat itself must be a destination–rather than just a means of getting from A to B–a yacht which an owner will really want to spend time and where speed, in consequence, is of secondary importance. The challenge is more to offer fun and facilities that depend less on unsustainable resources.

The design of the hull and internal layout is completed already.  A variety of design and technological factors will ensure that the yacht has the lowest running costs and environmental impact.

The eco yacht has been provided with just one or two engines, along with bow and stern thrusters for maneuvering at low speeds.

There is also a small alternative engine that is meant to be used as a generator. However, in case of the main engine failure, it can be used for propelling the yacht to the nearest port. Moreover, the hull of the yacht has been designed for providing the lowest resistance in the water. The hull has been constructed from normal GRP for keeping the building costs and weight of the yacht low while no compromise was made on the yacht’s strength and durability. The propulsion system provides the yacht with a cruising speed of 12 knots.  Optional Diesel electric engine package is also available, which enables the yacht to operate cleanly and quietly.

The yacht will also be provided with equipments such as grey-water recycling, waste compaction and high quality insulation for saving energy needed for heating and cooling the yacht. The first model of the eco yacht is expected to be completed and delivered by 2011.
